Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe offered a sobering assessment of his team's future after their disappointing playoff exit.

The Maple Leafs were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in a four-game sweep. It was the third consecutive year that the Maple Leafs have failed to advance past the first round.

"We're not good enough," Keefe said. "We're not good enough to win a playoff series. We're not good enough to win the Stanley Cup."

Keefe's comments come as no surprise. The Maple Leafs have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NHL in recent years. They have not won a playoff series since 2004 and have not won the Stanley Cup since 1967.

The Maple Leafs have a lot of talent, but they have not been able to put it all together. They have a lot of work to do if they want to become a contender.
