Despite the huge deficit early, Celtics fend off Mavericks run

The Boston Celtics held on to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 124-112 on Wednesday night at TD Garden. The Celtics led by as many as 23 points in the first half, but the Mavericks fought back to cut the lead to just six points with 9:36 remaining in the fourth quarter.
However, the Celtics made their free throws down the stretch and hit some big shots to prevent the Mavericks from completing the comeback. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 29 points, while Jayson Tatum added 27 points and 12 rebounds. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
The Celtics improve to 44-18 on the season, while the Mavericks fall to 33-29. The two teams will meet again in Dallas on March 15.
